Applications are now open for the International Beethoven Piano Competition which will take part in Vienna, Austria 10-20 June 2013
...

Founded more than 50 years ago, the Competition takes place every four years and allows selected young pianists to meet in Vienna and showcase their talent and musicianship in front of an international jury and the Viennese public. As one of the oldest and most important piano competitions in Austria it follows a longstanding tradition of featuring the works of Ludwig van Beethoven exclusively.
Beethoven’s oeuvre is one of the most important foundations of a young concert pianist’s musical education, and it is precisely through the intensive study of Beethoven’s compositions that many young musicians find their way to musical maturity - so state the Competition.
Hosted by the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna it will take place for the fourteenth year in June 2013.

Says Artistic Director Jan Jiracek von Arnim: 'The quality of the interpretation of Beethoven‘s immortal masterpieces is a key element for the artistic reputation of musicians. This unique competition in the heart of beautiful Vienna gives young pianists a rewarding opportunity to showcase their musicianship and artistic maturity.'

Application Deadline: 15 October 2012

International entry examinations take place in January and February next year. Venues: New York City, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Berlin, Bonn, London, Paris and Vienna.

The Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities, born between 1 Jan 1981 and 31 Dec 1996.
