What's in this Download?
This A minor Sonata dates from a decade later, with the composer settled in Vienna and satisfying contemporary taste for ‘exotic’ timbres such as are found in the contrasting, major-key B section of the finale. Let’s not overlook, however, how closely both themes of the Rondo are related to Hungarian music of the time such as the verbunkos; the contrast between them need not be exaggerated, even if you may be tempted to jingle bells on the beat during the ‘Turkish’ sections.
