Yamaha Pianos is joining forces with four UK piano dealers from 12-16 November to present 'The Silent Revolution’ – a unique tour to showcase the latest groundbreaking new Yamaha SH Silent Series Pianos, starring Yamaha's leading international product specialist Bert Smorenburg

Since their launch in Yamaha’s 125th Anniversary Year at London’s world famous Abbey Road studios, Yamaha’s SH Silent Series Pianos have earned a highly prestigious ‘Quiet Mark’ from the Noise Abatement Society and amassed over 500,000 YouTube views, after appearing in recent videos featuring jazz and classical music sensations Jamie Cullum and HJ Lim.

Nothing makes a statement like a piano and this is a do-not-miss free opportunity for pianists and anyone interested in learning to play or buying a piano for a studio, educational establishment or the family home to experience music and technology in perfect harmony. Those attending can also take advantage of Yamaha’s Upgrade Bonus scheme that offers individuals and institutions guaranteed part-exchange prices on their current 'past sell-by date' acoustic and digital pianos. The scheme presents a great opportunity to rejuvenate instruments, make savings on future maintenance costs and turn the dream of owning an elegantly crafted new Yamaha into a reality.

Bert Smorenburg is one of Europe’s most inspirational, entertaining and informative piano and keyboard specialists. Visitors to tour locations will have the opportunity to take advantage of special offers on the day and go hands on, with the chance to try a selection of Silent Pianos from entry-level uprights to grand piano models.  Experts from Yamaha will also be on hand to assist and inform customers about the pianos and provide invaluable hints and tips on how to enjoy the full Silent Piano experience that offers practical benefits for music making, using headphones.

Yamaha’s new Silent Piano models represent a massive step forward in the creative and learning possibilities available to teachers and serious pianists, combining new Yamaha technology with traditional acoustic piano to aid teaching, creativity and recording. The new models offer a seamless transition from acoustic 'live' playing to private and silent practice and rehearsal, using pioneering binaural sampling techniques to create a 3D aural sensation that gives the player on headphones a 'real' playing experience using the sound of Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand piano, combined with a groundbreaking new non-contact key sensor system. Bert Smorenburg will demonstrate and explain this technology, the amazing sound and feel of the acoustic instrument, its powerful features, functionality, and versatile digital audio capabilities for recording and playback.
Yamaha’s Leanne Barrell told us, “We hope as many pianists of all standards and ages will come along to these entertaining and informative shows. For anyone who has ever wondered what a silent piano is and what it can do for your piano playing, the ‘Silent Revolution’ tour offers the perfect introduction!”

Bert Smorenburg states, "Playing and presenting the Silent Piano has been a total revelation to me. Imagine the finest acoustic piano and add the sophisticated technology that allows you to play the piano with headphones, play different voices, record all your music, or play along with backing tracks,  all without any compromise whatsoever to the acoustic instrument and its playability. That is the true power of combining an acoustic instrument with inspiring technology: the best of both worlds."

Bert Smorenburg has been Yamaha’s international demonstrator and product specialist for over 12 years and his expertise covers a range of keyboard instruments from synthesizers to acoustic pianos. Originally from a classical background, his interests broadened to include electronic music and sound engineering before he graduated from the Rotterdam Music University. Bert owns a professional recording studio, producing many different projects, and teaches audio recording and mixing at the Haarlem Music Academy where he co-founded the “E-musician” course.
