The heart of craftsmanship
The piano, which is called the Steinway Hall London 150 Years Anniversary Limited Edition, was designed to honour 150 years of Steinway Hall London. This exclusive Limited Edition – available in Model b Spirio | r (limited to five pieces) and Model D-274 Spirio | r (limited to 3 pieces, made-to-order) is finished in White RAL 9010 with chrome fittings and features an inner mahogany rim, silver cast-iron plate, and a specially designed medallion marking its rarity. Its defining feature is the hand-drawn artwork adorning the outer rim — a continuous line-drawing timeline titled The Sound of Nations in the Lines of Time – celebrating 150 years of British musical and cultural history intertwined with Steinway’s legacy in the UK.
Dominic Ferris played to the crowd on the new instrument:

The stars of Steinway
Founded in 1875, Steinway Hall London became the first European home of Steinway & Sons, arriving five years before the Hamburg factory even opened its doors in 1880. In those early days, every single piano was handcrafted in New York and shipped across the Atlantic – a journey that speaks to the dedication and vision that built this institution.
For a century and a half, the Hall has been a sanctuary for musical excellence. It has welcomed an extraordinary roster of artists: Martha Argerich, Vladimir Ashkensky, Alfred Brendel, Lang Lang, John Lennon, Alicia de Larrocha, Dudley Moore, Imogen Cooper, Paul Lewis, Yuja Wang, Julian Joseph and Jacob Collier, to name just a few. Lennon composed Imagine on a Steinway Model Z prepared in the Hall's own workshop – a moment that forever linked this space to one of music's most iconic songs.
At the event, Danny Driver performed excerpts from Bach's Goldberg Variations:

Pianist editor Erica Worth also managed to give the piano a try:

This year, as the Hall celebrates its sesquicentennial – and under the leadership of newly appointed Director of Sales & Marketing, Nicola Le – the Hall is stepping confidently into its next chapter. Today, Steinway Hall London houses three showrooms, a full restoration workshop, artist rehearsal spaces and an intimate recital room.
