<p> The six Finalists for the 17th Leeds International Piano Competition have just been announced. They are Federico Colli from Italy (age 24); Jayson Gillham from Australia (age 26); Andrejs Osokins from Latvia (age 27); Louis Schwizgebel from Switzerland (age 24); Jiayan Sun from China (age 22) and Andrew Tyson from the USA (age 25)<br /> &nbsp;</p> ...

The finalists were chosen by Dame Fanny Waterman, Chairman of the Jury and Artistic Director of the Competition and her distinguished international jury and were announced last night following the completion of the semi finals.

The final Concerto round of the Competition will be performed with the Hallé Orchestra directed by Sir Mark Elder in Leeds Town Hall. The programme order is as such: Friday 14 September at 7.30pm: Louis Schwizgebel Beethoven Concerto No 4, Jiayan Sun Prokofiev Concerto No 2, and Jayson Gillham Beethoven Concerto No 5. Saturday 15 September at 6.30pm: Andrejs Osokins Prokofiev Concerto No 3, Federico Colli Beethoven Concerto No 5, and Andrew Tyson Rachmaninov Concerto No 3.

To follow the Concerto Finals and the results of The Leeds International Piano Competition, radio listeners can tune into BBC Radio 3 on 90-93 FM as follows: Thursday 13th September 7.30pm Petroc Trelawny and guests Kathy Stott and Benjamin Frith introduce highlights from the semi-final rounds, including performances from the six Concerto Finalists. There will be live BBC radio broadcasts from Leeds Town Hall of the Concerto Finals on Friday 14th September at 7.30pm and on Saturday 15th September at 6.30pm followed by the announcement of the result at 11.55pm. Finally on Sunday 16th September at 2.00pm the Gala Concert will be broadcast live from the Great Hall in the University of Leeds.

Alternatively listeners can catch up online with any of these broadcasts at any time up to a week after the live transmission.
