Sir Simon Rattle tests positive for coronavirus, LSO says

The conductor is suffering with mild symptoms and is isolating at home

The London Symphony Orchestra has confirmed that conductor Sir Simon Rattle has tested positive for coronavirus, and will therefore be unable to fulfil his upcoming engagements with the orchestra.

Kirill Karabits will take his place for the LSO's scheduled Barbican concerts on 8, 9, 15 & 16 December and at the Philharmonie de Paris on 13 December. The Ukrainian is currently Chief Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and has also been General Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Deutsches Nationaltheater and Staatskapelle Weimar.
