Proms at St Jude’s background
Its founder is Susie Gregson MBE, who established Proms with others in 1993. Since then, we have provided entertainment for thousands of people and raised over £600,000 for charity.
It offer daily concerts with top national and international artists; free lunchtime music recitals; a LitFest weekend with best-selling authors; a series of Heritage Walks; a buzzing licensed refreshment marquee; and a LitFest café with delicious home-made cakes.
Almost everyone involved is a volunteer.
Proms at St Jude's gives all our surplus funds to charity. Three pounds in four go to the Aspire programme at Toynbee Hall help disadvantaged young people. The rest goes to the North London Hospice, which helps people in the London boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey to live with a potentially life-limiting illness.
The music programme is designed to cater for a wide range of tastes, and there are several piano recitals this year. Proms at St Jude's attracts world class artists and is proud to support rising talent in its lunchtime concerts.
Access is an important part of its credo, aiming to offer events available to all, regardless of age, financial means or health. Proms at St Jude's does its best to promote environmental responsibility. The festival brings together the community and attracts many visitors from other parts of the country and overseas.
