13 awards to be presented to individuals and organisations who made their mark in 2016

Who made classical music really count in the concert hall, community, and on the page, stage or screen in 2016?

Which singer was Lieder of the pack?

Which maestro had a masterstroke?

Which young artist came of age?

What new work made its mark?

Nominations are now open for the Royal Philharmonic Society [RPS] Music Awards, the UK’s highest annual accolades for live classical music, presented in association with BBC Radio 3. Information on how to nominate can be found at: rpsmusicawards.com/nominations

Each year, through its annual RPS Music Awards, the Royal Philharmonic Society celebrates outstanding achievement in music. Awards are made in 13 categories, each selected by an independent jury of leading music professionals, with winners announced each May at a glittering award ceremony at The Brewery in London.

This year, the Society is looking for nominations that reflect extraordinary music making across the UK in the calendar year 2016: the individuals and organisations who have gone the extra mile to engage and beguile, inform and inspire. Rosemary Johnson, RPS Executive Director comments:

‘At last year’s RPS Music Awards ceremony, we reflected on the capacity for music, in many different forms, to reach well beyond its traditional heartland. And it’s the brilliant talent of musicians, composers, conductors, young artists, singers, directors, big and small ensembles and those who programme, or communicate to existing and new audiences using words and technology, that make the difference. The UK remains home to the world’s most vibrant classical music scene, so now is the time to indulge yourself, by remembering your most enjoyable, most profound and most distinctive musical moments of 2016. We are looking for nominations that reflect the diverse range on offer – from star names to small community events and young, emerging talent. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts.’

NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN AND CLOSE AT MIDNIGHT ON MONDAY 16 JANUARY 2017
