Sir András Schiff put on a characteristically stellar performance at the BBC Proms yesterday [Sunday].
He took to the Royal Albert Hall stage to perform Beethoven's final three piano sonatas: Piano Sonata No 30 in E major Op 109, Piano Sonata No 31 in A flat major Op 110, and Piano Sonata No 32 in C minor Op 111. Beethoven's piano sonatas "have lost none of their relevance and freshness", Schiff commented in his programme notes.
