We’re honoured to announce that Pianist magazine issue 103’s cover star is the sensational Pavel Kolesnikov! Since becoming Prize Laureate of the Honens International Piano Competition in 2012, the Russian pianist has played at some of the world’s greatest venues including Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, Berlin’s Konzerthaus, the Louvre (Paris), Vancouver Recital Society, Canada’s Ottawa ChamberFest and Banff Summer Festival, the BBC Proms, and London’s Wigmore Hall.

Following his Wigmore Hall debut in January 2014, British newspaper The Daily Telegraph gave his recital a rare five-star review declaring it ‘one of the most memorable of such occasions London has witnessed in a while’. The Guardian quite simply described him as 'a poet of the keyboard.' Nothing could be truer for this London-based artist.

His third and latest album – released by Hyperion records – features 18 recordings of Kolesnikov playing Ludwig Van Beethoven. Piano Sonata ‘Moonlight’ Op 27/2, Seven Bagatelles Op 33, and Andante in C major all are included on this quite stunning album.

At just 29 years of age, Kolesnikov currently has the world at his feet and time on his side. I am sure you will agree with us here at Pianist magazine that we are extremely excited to witness this wonderful pianist’s continued success over the next few years.
