Toradze had miraculously played *through* heart failure just last month in an astonishing video that had surfaced online

Alexander Toradze has sadly passed away just weeks after suffering heart failure on stage.

The pianist's death is reported by numerous sources including Giornale Della Musica and music critic Norman Lebrecht.

Toradze had miraculously played through heart failure at the end of April when he was performing with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in the USA – a moment which was caught on camera.

In the video, Toradze can be seen playing the final part of Shostakovich's Second Piano Concerto with the orchestra under Maestro Salvador Brotons.

The pianist studied at Tbilisi's central music school as a child before continuing at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. In 1977, aged 25, he finished second in the Fifth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, Texas.
