Trifonov was due to perform alongside fellow pianist Sergei Babayan at the Wigmore Hall on 17 March

Superstar pianist Daniil Trifonov has had to cancel his planned performance at London's Wigmore Hall this week due to visa issues.

The Wigmore Hall have updated the event's page with the following information:

"We are writing to let you know that despite everyone’s timely and concerted efforts, the British Embassy has unfortunately not been able to process Daniil Trifonov’s visa in time, and he has therefore had to withdraw from the above concert. The concert has been cancelled and there will be no replacement.

We plan to reschedule Daniil Trifonov and Sergei Babayan’s performance in due course."

The pair were due to play Rachmaninov's Suite No 1 (Fantaisie-tableaux) Op 5, Suite No 2 Op 17 and the Symphonic Dances Op 45.

Hopefully, we shall see Trifonov back in London again sooner rather than later!
