Its Junior Academy will also go ahead online this August

In light of world events, Chethams Summer School and Junior Academy has decided to continue with this year's summer school online, making it one of the world's only online summer schools.

The Summer School normally takes place every year in Manchester, England, but this year's edition was placed under serious threat due to the global outbreak of COVID-19. The Summer School's faculty of teachers and performers are "supportive, positive and enthusiastic too," explains the school's Head of Keyboard Murray McLachlan.

Instead of its usual schedule of face-to-face masterclasses and performances, the Summer School will instead be offering the following:

●Timetabled individual online lessons with the faculty. These could be through skype, facetime, zoom or other platforms

● Daily ‘live’ stream welcome and news

● Daily live coffee mornings and announcements (CIPSS)

● Daily live stream technique tips from the faculty

● Daily practise advice sessions

● A combination of live stream and recorded performances every evening (CIPSS)

Content continues after advertisements

● Evening online bar (CIPSS)

● Online Resources and videos

They are additionally looking into putting on group performance workshops.

The dates will remain the same as before, with the Junior Academy taking place from 8-13 August, and the two separate weeks of the Summer School taking place from 14-20 August and 20-26 August.

Fees are dramatically reduced to £250 per participant for one part of the course.
