Concert pianists Joseph Tong and Waka Hasegawa, collectively known as Piano 4 Hands, are presenting another edition of their biennial event for all things duo, the Bristol International Piano Duo Festival, on 27-30 October. One sure-fire high point will be Tal & Groethuysen (pictured) on 27 October, in arrangements of Mendelssohn’s String Octet (that’s eight original players down to two) and Beethoven’s Grosse Fuge (a string quartet down to two) at St George’s, Bristol. Duo legends Katia and Marielle Labèque grace St George’s in Ravel’s Ma Mère L’Oye and an arrangement of Bernstein songs from West Side Story. Piano 4 Hands themselves takes to the stage at Victoria Rooms, Bristol University in a lunchtime concert on 28 October and an evening dance-themed concert on 29 October.
