Yamaha honours the latest winners of its competition for outstanding young musicians

Pianist Meihui An, an undergraduate student at the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY, has been selected as a winner of the 2023 Yamaha Young Performing Artist (YYPA) Competition.

The YYPA Competition recognizes outstanding young musicians studying in the United States who excel in jazz, classical, and contemporary genres.

Meihui is among only twelve winners recognized in 2023 as an outstanding young musician demonstrating remarkable talent, exceptional technical skill, and artistry in piano performance. She received the Michael P. Troderman Scholarship in high school and was enrolled at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School studying piano under Jung-A Bang. Her accolades continued as she received the Eastman Artistic Scholarship and the Avis H. and David L. Vaughn Scholarship from the Eastman School of Music.

This summer, she was accepted into the Emerging Artist Fellowship Program for intensive chamber music at the Garth Newel Music Center.

“All the stars aligned for the 2023 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Celebration, including 10 virtuosic, masterful musicians providing the enthusiastic crowd with jaw dropping performances,” said John Wittmann, associate vice president, artist relations.
