2022 Pianist Composing Competition now OPEN

The Pianist Composing Competition is back and OPEN.

This year, we're giving you the chance to win your very own Kawai ES520 piano worth over £1,350 in a choice of either black or white –complete with a matching designer stand and pedal unit – PLUS the opportunity to have your winning score featured inside a future issue of Pianist.

Not only that, but your winning score will also be recorded by our house pianist Chenyin Li for the official Pianist album and you will be interviewed for a feature inside the magazine.

In last year's edition, we received a record-high 152 entries. The winning score – Our Mortal World by British piano teacher Patrick Dailly – features inside the pages of issue 120 of Pianist.

How to enter

Make sure your composition is written for solo piano. It can be in any style you like, and for any technical level. The length should not exceed 64 bars. 

There are no restrictions of age, nationality or profession. However, you are ineligible if you derive your income from composing. Entries from earning composers will be automatically disqualified. 

Should you win, and if you reside outside of the UK, you will be required to pay for the shipping fees of your chosen piano. Entries cost £25 and must be submitted online as a PDF by Monday 6 December 2021.
