The French pianist went viral earlier in the year after announcing she was releasing a new album of piano music

Back in April, Colette Maze captured the hearts of millions of you when her interview with broadcasting company Euromaxx went viral online.

In the video, the French pianist spoke about the joys that music has brought her over the last century: "In the life, the most important thing, is the new... to remain curious."

Since the video, Colette has celebrated her 109th – yes, one hundred and ninth – birthday, as well as the release of her brand new album! 109 ans de piano was released in June and features 19 pieces all performed by Colette. It includes works by Claude Debussy, George Gershwin, Robert Schumann, Ruichi Sakamoto and Astor Piazzolla. Concert guitarist Bertrand Cazé appears on several tracks alongside Colette.

Colette is a former pupil of Alfred Cortot and Nadia Boulanger. She was taught by them at the École Normale de Musique de Paris in the 1920s and 30s, in her teenage years. Her longevity is just remarkable!
