Back in early 2021, Kazakhstani pianist Alim Beisembayev was a student at London's Royal College of Music studying for his Masters degree.
Flash forward to the end of the year, and he became the 20th Gold Medal winner of the world-famous Leeds International Piano Competition. The only Kazakhstani to ever win the competition, Alim has since gone on to release his debut album with Warner Classics and tour the world.
Now, he graces the cover of the Feb/Mar 2023 issue of Pianist with the whole world at his feet. Below, we take a look back at his remarkable journey through the Leeds Competition.
