Tiny Desk Concerts

Tiny Desk Concerts has been a huge hit in the music industry. The likes of Billie Eilish, Adele and Alicia Keys have all featured on the show in recent years.

This time, it was the turn of Víkingur.

Here, he plays Bach's 'Andante' (from Organ Sonata No. 4 (arr. Stradal), Rameau's 'Le rappel des oiseaux', Debussy's 'The Snow is Dancing', before finishing with Rameau's 'The Arts and the Hours', which has been arranged by Víkingur himself.

Glass: Étude No. 5

Víkingur's 2017 album 'Philip Glass: Piano Works' – his debut recording with Deutsche Grammophon – was a huge success. Above, he plays Étude No. 5 which is taken from the album.

 

 

Bach/Marcello: Concerto in D minor BWV 974

Live from the Yellow Lounge in Berlin, Víkingur performs J. S. Bach's solo keyboard arrangement of Concerto in D minor BWV 974. 

 

 

Edvard Grieg: Piano Concerto in A minor

The Icelandic pianist is joined here by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy live from the Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall (2011).
