THE PIANO SHOP KENT

A new piano shop has opened just outside Tunbridge Wells, aptly named The Piano Shop Kent. Run by our regular contributor and ABRSM examiner Nigel Scaife (pictured below), it’s a great place to visit if you’re a passionate piano lover - whether a beginner or an experienced player. There is a ground floor showroom with a wide range of new and second hand upright and grand pianos, a workshop for restoration services, and a basement stocking digital pianos. Focusing on used Yamaha uprights and restored German pianos from makers such as Bechstein and Bluthner, there is something for everyone in this charming shop, from beginner instruments to rebuilt Steinways.

As well as sales and restoration, The Piano Shop offers a ‘rent to buy’ scheme which allows you to rent a piano with the option of buying it with some or all the rental cost reimbursed. What better way to encourage parents to take the plunge and invest in their children’s learning through having them play a good instrument from the start!  It’s equally good for adult learners who want to see if a particular instrument will suit them in the longer term.

The Piano Shop’s website gives full information on every piano and as well as their standard 5-year guarantee the price includes free ground floor delivery throughout mainland UK. The shop is based in an old sawmill on the A26 and there’s plenty of easy free parking.

It’s open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
