Casio, one of the world’s most renowned producers of musical instruments including premium digital hybrid pianos, has teamed up with The Curious Piano Teachers to present a one-day music education conference - Curious LIVE Redefining Expectations. It will take place on Tuesday 20th February at The MAC, Belfast.

Complimenting its ‘Action in Music’ initiative - which celebrates the work of music teachers nationwide - Casio has collaborated with The Curious Piano Teachers to be present at their music education conference. It will explore how to redefine piano teaching in the modern age and encourage the adoption of new teaching practices.

The one day conference invites all piano teachers both local to Belfast and beyond, to join some of the industry’s leading experts from around the world to discuss this topic - through workshops and talks. It aims to act as a catalyst to help change teaching habits and the development for professionals in the modern era.

The event’s speakers will include:

Head of EMI at Casio, Neil Evans says: “Musical experiences and opportunities must be accessible to all; which is why we’re joining forces with The Curious Piano Teachers to explore how piano teaching can be redefined today and raise awareness of music teachers. Off the back of our ‘Action in Music’ campaign, we’re delighted to engage with local teachers in Belfast and look forward to finding out how we can support them in developing their teaching styles and techniques.”

Dr Sally Cathcart, Co-Founder and Director of The Curious Piano Teachers added: “We’re delighted to partner with Casio. There is a lot of synergy from their ‘Action in Music’ campaign which aims to address music education today and raise its awareness. We want this event to serve as a catalyst for change and help redefine expectations of piano teachers, pupils and parents in Northern Ireland and beyond."

As the event’s main sponsor, Casio will be showcasing its award-winning Celviano Grand Hybrid digital pianos. It combines key elements of a grand piano, such as the Natural Grand Hammer Action mechanism that replicates the feel of an acoustic grand piano, this, combined with full-length precision wooden keys is the perfect combination for both new learners and experienced pianists.

Suitable for those with some teaching experience, the event will help local Belfast teachers how to better understand their teaching techniques, how to improve pupil engagement - and become more imaginative, artistic and technical in their professional approach.
