Sir András Schiff debuts new Bösendorfer concert grand at BBC proms

The world renowned and critically acclaimed pianist Sir András Schiff recently specified the Bösendorfer 280VC concert grand piano for his solo performance of Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’ concerto with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra at this year’s BBC Proms.

The BBC Proms, Founded in 1885 and held annually in London, is an eight-week summer season of daily orchestral and classical concerts held in the Royal Albert Hall. Comprising over 70 concerts, it is a highlight of the international classical and orchestral music calendar, featuring many of the world’s finest musicians.

This performance marks the latest high profile international outing for this remarkable piano and follows Sir András’s personal selection of a 280VC for his series of concerts at London’s Wigmore Hall earlier this year.

Sir András is a Bösendorfer fan of long standing and said, “In the world of globalization, where pianists basically play all the music on one sort of piano, we desperately need change and variety. Please listen without prejudice, with open ears and hearts.”
