Celebrity Steinway goes under the hammer at London piano auction on 23 June 2016

Piano Auctions offer two instruments from the iconic Abbey Road Studios in its London auction next week

 

Lot 60 is a 1973 Steinway 6ft 2in Model A grand piano which was purchased direct from Hamburg in 1973 by the Abbey Road Studios and has been housed in Studio 3 ever since. The instrument has been used for sessions for many legendary artists including: Tony Bennett, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, Florence and the Machine, Amy Winehouse, Sam Smith, Mumford and Sons, Paul Weller, Foo Fighters, Katherine Jenkins, Gary Barlow, Dido, Tom Newman 'Skyfall', Kate Bush, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Manic Street Preachers, Radiohead, Gabriel Yared and many others.  

Estimate: £15,000-20,000

Lot 73 is a 1977 Bösendorfer 7ft 5in Model 225 grand piano which has also come from the Abbey Studios and prior to that was housed in Studio 2 at the Olympic Studios prior to its closure in 2009. This instrument was used for many recording sessions with artists including: Oasis, New Order, Placebo, Bjork, Eric Clapton, Sinead O'Connor, Ray Lamontagne and Pete Doherty.
Estimate: £18,000 - 22,000
