Pianist's 2021 Composing Competition is now officially OPEN.

This year's winner will receive a Kawai piano worth £3,750 and will have their winning score printed inside a future issue of Pianist. See the full prize package below.

Now in its 5th year, the annual Composing Competition has been a huge hit with aspiring pianists and composers around the world. Last year's winner Giuseppe Capasso composed a tango titled Blue Habanera, which competition judge Alexis Ffrench described as being "packed with stylistic authenticity and Argentinean swagger." The piece was printed inside issue 114 of Pianist.

Capasso commented, "I entered to take a chance... it's like when you buy a ticket for the lottery. There is always a tiny part of you that hopes."

If you would like to enter an original piece, make sure your piece is written for solo piano. It can be in any style you like, and for any technical level. The length should not exceed 64 bars. Full terms and conditions can be found on the official entry page.

Good luck!
